My Belly Off! 2008 program has officially come to an end, stay tuned for final weigh-in and measurements tomorrow. Having complete all 8 weeks, I'm confident that the Belly Off! 2008 program has set a great foundation for my continued weight loss success. I have seen so many changes in how I look, how I feel and how I perform in physical tasks, that I can't wait to get on with the next phase of my training. And that next phase will be Turbulence Training, here's why.
As my 8 weeks of Belly Off was coming to an end, I started thinking about what I wanted to do next. A few things I realized were:
- I'm not a fitness expert
- I still need structured workouts
- I wanted variety
- Belly Off worked great
Because I'm not a fitness expert, I realized there is no way I could design my own workouts that would be effective. There would be a lot of trial and error in getting results that I would be happy with. I don't have time to research all the latest info on weight loss and resistance training so anything I put together would be based on guesswork and speculation. That's not a good way to build a new program if I want to see results.
I know how I work. I need some structure around my gym time, otherwise I'd wander from machine to machine trying each one out with no rhyme or reason to what I was doing. I'd end up wasting a lot of time while getting frustrated because I wouldn't be progressing like I want to. This ties in closely with the "not a fitness expert" statement. Without the time or knowledge to put together a decent routine I'd quickly lose interest and/or get frustrated.
Even if I did manage to find the time to research and put together my own program, that would only be one program. After awhile I'd get bored and then problems would start. Heck, after 8 weeks of doing the Belly Off program, I was starting to get a bit bored with it. And when something gets boring, I'm gonna lose interest sooner or later. So I'd continually have to keep researching to come up with a new workout every 6-8 weeks or so and I just don't have that kind of time. They say variety is the spice of life and I'm finding that's true when it comes to workouts too.
The Men's Health Belly Off! 2008 program worked. I lost 16 pounds in 8 weeks, 4 inches off my chest and belly and my body is being transformed right in front of me each week. I'm full of energy, my body feels tighter and my confidence is soaring.
So if Belly Off worked so well for me, why would I mess with that type of success and chose some new program that I'm not sure will work as good for me as this one did. That's where Turbulence Training comes in.
Turbulence Training was developed by Craig Ballantyne. He also developed the Belly Off 2008 program for Men's Health. They both use the same principals of quick, effective bodyweight and dumbbell workouts coupled with high intensity interval training to get fantastic fat loss results. This formula has been successful for me so far, so why mess with success?
Everything I want in a workout program is provided for by Turbulence Training. There is variety, in fact there are 9 different workouts in the basic package, each lasting 4 weeks. I'll have plenty of programs to chose from as time goes on, that's for sure. There are quite a few other workouts in the bonus materials too. And then there are all the workouts Craig puts up in the TTMembers site each month. Between Turbulence Training, the bonus materials and the workouts Craig posts on the TTMembers' site, I'm going to have a lot of workouts. In fact, I don't think I'll even need a new program until the end of this year and that's fine with me.
TTMembers is a great resource too. The social support I got from the Belly Off forums on Men's Health was a huge help. Questions were answered, motivation and support provided and a great sense of community developed. I never felt like I was on my own, there was always someone there to help out if need be. TTMembers is the same type of social support forum. Though I never thought it was important, that support is a major factor in succeeding so the fact that Turbulence Training comes with it is another bonus for me.
All-in-all, when I looked at Belly Off and then Turbulence Training, there was no reason why I should look anywhere else for a new program. I already understood the workouts, there was a social support network and the same guy that provided me these great results was responsible for both of the programs. In the end, it was a no-brainer for me.
